PET PLASTIC CONTAINERS ARE THE MOST RECYCLED PLASTIC...
In 1991, 285 million pounds of PET plastic containers were recycled – representing 24% of all those produced that year. One in every three soft drink bottles (or 33%) produced in 1991 was recycled.

PET PLASTIC RECYCLING IS GROWING...
PET plastic containers are now included in more than 2,073 curbside collection programs in the United States. NAPCOR has participated in 35 states to spread the message about PET plastics containers.

PET REQUIRES LESS ENERGY TO MAKE, AND CREATES LESS WASTE THAN EITHER ALUMINUM OR GLASS CONTAINERS...
A study conducted by national waste experts, Franklin Assoc. Ltd., found that even including the petroleum used to make the original product – PET is more energy efficient and less wasteful than either aluminum or glass.

35% of the polyester carpet made and sold in the United States contains recycled PET.

Fourteen 20 oz. PET bottles yield enough fiberfill for a ski jacket.

It takes 85 20 oz. PET bottles to make enough fiberfill for a sleeping bag.

The PET Industry is represented by its own national trade association – The National Association for Plastic Container Recovery (NAPCOR), which assists communities nationwide in establishing and promoting successful recycling programs.
