The Leader in Custom Thermoforming

Thermoforming is Portage Plastics forté. Many companies make plastic, but PPC is unique in that it is a highly developed thermoforming company, vertically integrated, utilizing its human resource, capital, and equipment assets to the fullest.

PPC thermoforms a multitude of plastic products, custom designed for many specialized markets, such as Food, Medical Packaging, Personal Care, Automotive, Hardware, Agricultural, Consumer, and Industrial Electronics.

PPC specializes in directing creative product development that is sensitive to a customer's economic and performance criteria. The company employs a sequential melt phase vacuum pressure forming process, often with plug assist, to create crisp definition for detailed parts.

Our vertical integration ties are strong. For example, PPC maintains a relationship with Spartech Plastics Corporation from whom Portage Plastics was acquired. Spartech's extrusion facility is located a few blocks away from our Portage facility for “just–in–time” delivery.

Our History

PPC is a new, privately held light gauge thermoforming company acquired in March 1997 from Spartech Plastics Corporation (Clayton, MO). Its ownership is divided among four partners, all of whom have extensive experience in the thermoforming segment of the Plastic Packaging Industry. The acquisition was a derivative of Spartech's 1996 acquisition of Portage Industries Corporation, a 25 year old sheet and rollstock extruder and thermoformer of light and heavy gauge plastic (co)extruded structures.

This is used on products that have had their manufacturing process assessed for impact on the environment. This label is concerned with impact to the environment during manufacture rather than recycled content and the selection of raw materials. It is commonly referred to as the Nordic Swan.
